  • The first and foremost thing is to be in the right frame of mind. You should be eager about the adventure sport, that you will be going to attempt, from the inside. Just doing it because of peer pressure is never advisable.

  • For a few days before you embark on your adventure trip, do a thorough study of your destination, what all adventure sports are offered there, which of them are you interested in, the weather, etc. then do a detailed study of those particular adventure sports, like the pros & cons, how they are done, specific precautions, et al.

  • Consider all the health risks for all those coming on the adventure trip. Make sure there are no physical injuries to you, any medical conditions like heart disease, asthma, any phobia etc. visit your family doctor and take his/her advice. You should be at the top of your physical and mental health before the adventure travel. You may take along medications or vaccinations after reviewing the disease threats at your trip destination.

  • Bring all the necessary safety gear like helmet, knee pads, elbow pads, lifejackets, etc. which could be required for the adventure sport. Wear clothes in which you are comfortable; don’t wear clothing that may tear while in action and make your movements restrictive in any direction.

  • Take along with you all the essential items like first aid box, maps, navigation equipment, sunscreen, sports sunglasses, caps, sports shoes, adequate water, and foods.

  • Listen and follow all the instructions given by the trainer/supervisor of that adventure sport, ask all your doubts and be ready with a clear mind.

  • Prior to your adventure sport, sufficiently warm-up your joints & muscles and make them flexible, especially those which will be worked upon more.

  • For one last time before you begin, ask yourself whether you can do it. If you are sure and fully confident then only go ahead, else back off.

  • Preferably, enjoy the adventure sport in a group, never alone. Some known persons with you can be very helpful in case of any unforeseen situation.

  • Refrain yourself and others from taking any pictures or videos while doing the adventure activity as it is fatal and risky for all. Rather concentrate, enjoy and take in the experience completely because it’s not every day that you will be doing it.
