Ways to make that Air BnB or local guest house feel like home sweet home!
Globetrotter that we are, staying in an Air BnB or a local guest house, in various countries, for long spans at stretch has always been a thing. We were just thinking of some fun ways in which we can have the rented space feel like home! Justify the traveler in you by giving no chance to feel homesick. Here are a couple of ways in which you could set up your temporary room or house and feel right at home!

Unpack! – It is always a good idea to set up your wardrobe and store away your backpacks and suit cases under the bed or in some invisible corner around. Having things on display in your wardrobe and your toiletries on display in your bathroom will definitely give that at-home feel. While this would take sometime, you could master this art and get done in a couple of minutes actually which would give you a lot more convenient then digging into your suitcase every now and then.

Carry a photo frame from home – Home is where the artwork is. Carry one of your favorite artworks, a family picture or a quote that you swear by and place it on the table top, bedside or simply hang it up in place of theirs. A picture from home can bring in a little home element to make your place feel familiar.

Create your own aroma – Most of the places we have travelled to have a signature aromatic ingredient mass produced. In a recent trip to South of India we got some amazing Eucalyptus aromatic oil and heavenly incense sticks. A mini diffuser or just 1 incense stick can personalize your space. Be careful not to bring the smoke alarms though!

Local flowers – You could enjoy a bunch of beauty from the local flower shop! A bright colorful idea, isn’t it. Unfortunately it is illegal to carry plants from one place to another via air. Else we swear by the little local planter that you can nurture, to have your days seeing the pretty thing grow! We usually love gifting it to the local landlord while bidding adieu with a bow and a note of gratitude adorning it.

Bar from home! – Have you little mini bar stocked up with your regular favorite drink and local yummy munchies to go. After a long day of exploring around, it is always a great idea to cozy up with what you are used to with some nice company of people, books or your favorite entertainment show.
