Good looks are not God gifted alone. Self-care and grooming go a long way in making one look good and feel great.  Beauty is a reflection of your inner state as well. Intake of good food plays a major role in self-beautification. Ensure that you have no deficiencies and are boosted with nutrition to have your skin glow and hair shine. Vitamins-

Vitamin A and B are most important for good hair health.

Vitamin C helps in building the collagen levels in the body which hold the body tissues together and heals wounds. If deficient, Vitamin C can lead to hair loss, split ends and hair breakage. Daily intake of Vitamin C keeps your skin firm and avoids acne breakouts. Vitamin C is water-soluble and usually gets washed out from the body while excreting which is why daily intake and replacement of the same is highly recommended.

Alpha-lipoic acid which helps in building collagen is a prerequisite for great skin. Collagen helps in maintaining the elasticity of the skin and keeps it from aging. Flax and flaxseed oil contain large amounts of Omega 3 fatty acids which in turn helps in the production of collagen. Flaxseed oil is a powerful anti-inflammatory and helps in keeping oneself away from diseases like arthritis, asthma or migraine.

Minerals-

Minerals are as important as vitamins when it comes to hair and skincare. Copper is one of the important minerals that play an important role in the production of hemoglobin which in turn increases the oxygen-carrying capacity of the blood tissues and hair follicles. Hair is also maintained by zinc, a mineral that increases cell production and helps in growth, wear and tear. Zinc level plays an important role in maintaining the oil-secreting glands of the scalp. It plays a major role in the production of protein and collagen as well.

Iron is an important mineral in the production of hemoglobin too. Women especially need to make sure that they are iron levels are up to the mark in order to have smooth menstruation cycles, balanced hormonal levels for good skin and hair.

Minerals also play an important role in keeping hair free from dandruff and diseases. Eggs, milk, seafood, oats and lean cuts contain minerals in large quantities.

Fats-

While there are various dietary fads that expect a person to completely cut off fat levels from the diet, it is not a good idea to deprive your body of it.  Good fats like Omega 3 and Omega 6 essential fatty acids are necessary for good skin. Flax seeds and fish are a great source for Omega 3 fatty acids and Omega 6 is widely found in poultry, dairy, some vegetable oils, and whole grains.

Vitamin, Minerals, and fats, when enough in the body, act as antioxidants and detoxify the body. This, in turn, increases the immunity levels safeguarding your hair and skin from pollution and allergies of any sort.
