Summer To-Do List: Music Festivals
Warmer weather is officially here, and that means the season of late nights, acoustic sets, food trucks, and friendly gatherings is right around the corner. Warmer weather also marks the start of music festivals all around the country.
Coachella
Coachella kicks off the 2019 festival season on April 12-14 and the following weekend April 19-21 in Indio, California. Coachella is famous for not only a great lineup but also for the fashion trends. On Friday the headlining acts are Childish Gambino, The 1975, DJ Snake, Diplo, and Janelle Monae. Saturday includes Tame Impala, Kid Cudi, Weezer, Billie Eilish, and Bassnectar. To close out the festival, we have Ariana Grande, Khalid, Chvrches, Zedd, and Dillon Francis. For all three days, general admission passes cost around $429. VIP tickets will cost you around $999.
Rolling Loud
Rolling Loud takes place at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, FL. This three-day event runs from Friday, May 10 to Sunday, May 12. Rolling Loud is a relatively new festival and is celebrating its 5th anniversary this year. Some of the headliners for Friday include Migos, Cardi B, Rick Ross, and Lil Yachty. Saturday bands include Travis Scott, Lil Wayne, Young Thug, Lil Baby, 21 Savage, Soulja Boy, and Kodak Black. On Sunday the festival closes out with Kid Cudi, Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Pump, Playboi Carti, Gucci Mane, Tyga, and DMX. Tickets went on sale February 1st so if this festival interests you, act quickly!
Boston Calling
Boston Calling is a smaller music festival geared more towards the alternative genre. This festival takes place at the Harvard Athletic Complex in Allston, MA. The event runs for one weekend only on May 24-26. Headlining this event are Twenty One Pilots, Travis Scott, Tame Impala, Odesza, Greta Van Fleet, Hozier, Lord Huron, Guster, and Chromeo, plus many more. In between sets you can be entertained by comedian/SNL actor Michael Che, comedian Fred Armisen, Parks & Recreation star Jenny Slate, and singer/songwriter Imogen Heap. General Admission tickets are $249, and VIP tickets are $599.
Lollapalooza
Lollapalooza takes place in Chicago, IL from August 1-4 at Grant Park. Lollapalooza prides itself on including bands from every genre. Ariana Grande, Childish Gambino, Twenty One Pilots, The Strokes, Tame Impala, Flume, The Chainsmokers, J Balvin, and many more are on the bill. One day tickets will cost you anywhere from $130-$2000. Four-day tickets range from $340-$4200. Ticket prices are dependent on what kind of experience you prefer. General Admission tickets are the cheapest, and the Lolla Insider ticket package is the most expensive but includes incredible perks.
