Man tried to become Police officer and landed in custody!
There exists a breed of people who are inherently freaky and wacky, they suddenly get some weird ideas out of nowhere and do something outlandish. They don’t think about the consequences and just go with the flow; then they get reprimanded for it and make a mockery out of themselves. We get to hear about quite a number of such incidents and laugh to our heart’s content.
One more such incident happened in New York. Valery Portlock, aged 25, must have dreamed of becoming a police officer as a child; but it looks like he couldn’t make it. Which is why, he supposedly took the form of a police officer; but in that process, himself got arrested!
Valiery was present in Hicksville, a city about 30 miles east of New York, on Long Island. He sounded an airhorn and turned on the emergency lights on a roadway. Later, he tried to pull over a van, maybe in a bid to extort money from them for breaking some law or something such. But alas, it looked like his luck was not working for him on that day.
The van that he pulled over, was filled with detectives! They were posted in the Nassau County Police Department’s electronics squad. Just when he was about to execute his plans further, the detectives revealed their identities to him. Naturally, he was scared and tried to run away from the scene.
Authorities revealed that Portlock drove his vehicle away, swerved into some oncoming traffic and ultimately entered the Long Island Expressway. He took speed and thought that he had a narrow escape of the law, but there again he was stopped by the highway patrol. Looks like he chose the wrong day to do some crazy stuff.
Later, he was arrested without any incident and was charged with reckless endangerment, fleeing the police (the real police), and obviously, criminal impersonation. Though the next day he was released from the police custody on his own recognizance following an arrangement.
Poor Valiery must have not thought of this consequence when the bizarre idea struck his mind. Usually, people do have some dreams, aims in mind, live a regular life of work and home, family and friends. But then there are those weirdos live life aimlessly, take one day at a time, do whatever comes to their mind, even if it means staying in police custody for a night and making a total fool out of themselves.
