Have the Best Valentine’s Date on a Budget
Valentine’s day often polarizes people, you either love it or you hate it. There is an enormous amount of pressure to have the perfect date for Valentine’s day because the last thing you want is to make your loved ones feel like you take them for granted. But not everyone can afford a weekend away or a night out on the town, so what are people on a budget supposed to do to celebrate the people they love?
1. Cook Dinner Together
With everyone’s busy schedule, it is tough to get everyone in the same place to enjoy a meal together. There is nothing quite like sharing some space and crafting a meal together that you can enjoy. Whether it is just you and your significant other or if your children are involved, having everyone take part adds to the date’s intimacy.
2. Build a Fort
Do you remember building blanket forts in the living room when you were a child? Who said that you couldn’t do that as an adult? Build your best blanket fort and get cozy with some flashlights or glowsticks; no candles, please. While you are in your fortress, you could have a picnic together, tell stories, or just enjoy making your kids jealous with your awesome fort building skills.
3. Movie Marathon
It is easier than ever to stream the best movies on your home devices. Decide a good movie theme and search through your streaming services to make a playlist. Take a small shopping trip to your local grocery store, pick out your favorite movie snacks, and get comfortable for your movie marathon. Extra points if you make a nest in the middle of the floor to lounge around and cuddle.
4. Create a Scavenger Hunt
If getting out and seeing the town is more your speed, make a list of everyday items and some take-out food and stroll through your city. The game could allow you to see your town in a whole new light.
5. Go Camping
As long as you are not in an area where there is snow on the ground and the temperatures get below freezing, you may want to consider going camping, even if it is in your back yard. Build a fire, pitch a tent, look at the stars, find the constellations, and maybe roast some marshmallows. Just switching up your environment can make great memories.
6. Game Night
Takedown some classic board games from the shelves and drum up some friendly competition. Since it is a special occasion, you might even splurge on a new game that you could try. You could make it even more special by either making or buying Valentine’s snacks.
7. Visit a Local Attraction
Each of us has been meaning to visit that local attraction for years now. Whether it is a local art collection, museum, historical farm, or the world’s largest whatever, this could be the perfect time to check that box and visit that local attraction.
