Build a relationship with yourself. It is the most important one!

As per the modern psychology, there are many traits which were previously considered to be inherited or genetical but over the time have been proved to be built, cultivated and self inculcated into your personality.

One such personality trait that you can develop and is known to be a virtue rather than genetical or inherited quality is the ability to be happy and cheerful no matter what kind of situation or circumstance is lingering in the background. Choosing happiness over brooding is an option that we can all choose is what science says. Having a positive outlook towards life, being a little easy going when necessary and having that one strong reason to stay focused and look ahead is a trait that you can develop your self.

Jasna Burza, a life coach says that you should choose to see the world as if everything is working in your favour. She stresses on developing an optimistic approach. Surround yourself with cheerful people. It’s almost impossible to be sullen when surrounded by cheerful and optimistic folks. We really do pickup habits and behaviours from those around us. Another famous life coach and author of the book ‘Get the life you love and live it’ says that the ability to remain joyful and laugh often can be developed with a bit of patience and understanding of what matters in life. It is important to make cheerfulness our life goal. David Bryne said in his TED talk titled ‘Reasons to be Cheerful’ that there’s a lot to be cheerful about, everyone needs to find their own reason. A famous social psychologist has said that when you are young, other people orchestrate your enjoyment of life. Your parents keep you entertained, and in college your friends make sure you are ok. But after that, the scaffolding of having a good day is taken away and nobody is telling you how to provide that for yourself. You must daily do things to increase your cheerful moments.

Of all that the famous psychologist have said the best bet is the one which says that you have to find your own reason to be cheerful and happy. Happiness is a choice that you make.

  1. Music – Having your very own personal updated playlist is an absolute must. Music is known to instantly uplift your mood

  2. A good workout session – A recent study has proved that even a 20 minutes walk in the outdoors can act as effectively as one 30 mins therapy session with a counselor! Just wear your comfortable shoes and get out for that stroll to come back home smiling with a fresh perspective towards life

  3. Have a list of motivators – Following successful and influential people on social media or podcast list or even on their personal blog is always very uplifting and can give you ideas to transform your days.

  4. Eat well – What you eat is what you are. It is an old quote which comes along way. When you eat fresh and healthy well balanced meals, you can instantly note the difference in your overall attitude and feelings.

  5. Meditation – Awareness and meditation can take you a long way. Develop the habit of being able to control your anxiety and talk yourself out of negativity. Meditation definitely gives you the much needed calm to be able to do so.

  6. Find your own reason to be happy – This is extremely important where you find your own reason to be happy and this is detached with people or circumstances around. That one trait within you or that one thing that you are working on progressively – should be the reason why you choose happiness and cheerfulness over anything else on earth.
